The "Lazy J"
The "Lazy J" is a 26 foot Hewescraft SeaRunner with an extended cabin for a comfortable and warm ride to our favorite fishing spots, and is coast guard inspected to insure appropriate safety measures are in place. The boat has two outboard Yamaha 4 stroke engines. Your Captains will be either Leslie or Jerry! We normally have a maximum of six fishermen plus crew. We also enjoy taking out smaller groups or families and catering to their needs for fishing. Besides fishing and having a safe time, we always enjoy a little competition and a good time among the fishermen. The minimun that we can take out is 2 or 3 depending on the targeted fish.

FISHING is fun but CATCHING is better!!
We enjoy fishing, but the real fun for the Captain and crew is taking others out fishing so they can experience the fun, and bring back memories to share with family and friends!! If fishing is not what you enjoy, there is breath taking scenery, whales, porpoises, sea lions, sea otters, and numerous birds to enjoy on a voyage aboard the Lazy J.

Halibut Fishing
Halibut fishing runs from mid May to September with the better fishing in June and July. The trip for halibut can be longer depending on where the fish are located. Yellow eye rock fish or Ling Cod may also be caught. Fishing for two halibut can be at depths of 300 feet. Most of the time the depth is in 150-250 feet of water. Fish size range from very big at 100 or more pounds to smaller ones of 25-50 pounds. Sometimes you can jig for halibut with lighter tackle, which is always a real challenge. Reel them up and they go back down. It is fun after it is all said and done, but it sure works the old arms and back out. Just remember to bring rain gear and rubber boots. The limit on Yellow Eye rock fish is 1 a day as is Ling cod, they are bottom fish and are caught in the same way as halibut. Your deck hand and Captain will keep you entertained most of the time. Oh, also if you get sea sick, remember there are a variety of nausea aids that will work if taken prior to the fishing trip. We eat ginger snap cookies and it works fine. Ginger is the secret. Its a real bummer to ruin a fishing trip feeding the fish that way!! If you have any questions feel to call 907-224-2498, or 307-575-0535 cell, or e-mail JbarL2@alaska.net. Thank you Captains Leslie and Jerry
Salmon Fishing
Salmon fishing for Silvers is a lot fun. They do a real dance, sometimes jumping out of the water and landing in the net. Its a real wild time when there are three or four "fish on" the line at the same time. Silvers run anywhere from 5 to 15 pounds . Seward has a derby running in August for the Silvers. During the Silver Salmon Derby the fish are in the bay so the boat ride is shorter and most of the time the water is flat. We can troll for salmon or moch for them. (That is where everyone just puts a line in the water with a weight and bait and jigs for them. It is a blast). Trolling is usually done with 4 lines so if there are more than 4 fisherman, you will take turns. Oh gentlemen, the ladies usually catch more and bigger fish so it seem! Kids do really good at jigging, because they keep the pole moving up and down. It is so much fun to watch the smaller kids catch salmon or any of the fish. They usually handle the pole and you hold them down while they reel the fish up.
